Hydrogen chloride (and hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen bromide and hydrogen iodide) add to vinyl chlorides (vinyl fluorides, vinyl bromides, vinyl iodides) to give gem-dichloroalkanes (gem-difluoro, gem-dibromo, gem-diiodo). Addition is according to Markovnikov`s rule.
