Classified as: Insertion
The insertion of an atom or group (Z) between two atoms (X-Y) can be considered an insertion.
However, single step (concerted) insertion reactions are very rare. Indeed, it is possible that all so called "insertion reactions" in fact proceed via a number of complexation and substitution steps. For more information look in the Chemogenesis webbook section on insertion reactions.RCl |
