Classified as: Wacker Oxidation
The Wacker oxidation involves the oxidation of ethene to acetaldehyde by Pd(II).
The Pd(0) formed is oxidised back to Pd(II) by Cu(II). The Cu(I) produced is oxidised back Cu(II) by oxygen.2 |
