Elimination: First Order
The E1, elimination first order reaction, is a spontaneous process by which a nucleofugal Lewis base leaves an organic function to generate a carbenium ion centre. Subsequently an electrofuge (usually H+) is ejected or abstracted which generates a pi-bond.

For more information look in the Chemogenesis webbook sections on fragmentation reactions and elimination reactions.
