Proton transfer: Brønsted reaction
The Brønsted acid/base protonation reaction involves the transfer of a proton from a Lewis base complex to a Lewis base with a higher proton affinity. The process is a special case nucleophilic substitution (at an H+ centre).

This analysis is explained in detail in the Chemogenesis webbook.
