Real, long lived, electronically neutral reagent chemical. Gram formula weight (molecular mass) = 299.36 Melting point = 155 °C as .H2O Purity = 99.9 % Solubility in water = 0.83 g/100mL Solubility in organics = slightly soluble Occurs in opium, but is usually prepared from morphine. Pharmaceutical preparations usually employ the phosphate or sulfate salts. Far less potent than morphine as a narcotic.
